The Chairman of The Church of Pentecost, Apostle Eric Nyamekye, has tasked the newly created Pent Media Board to use the media to advance the course of the Kingdom business.

According to him, looking at the indispensable role of the media in modern society, the Church, since the launch of Vision 2023, has doubled its efforts in the use of media to advance its course.

“As a Church, we have come to recognise that the critical role the media plays in propagating the gospel, discipling members of the church, and transforming society cannot be overemphasised,” he said.

The Chairman was speaking at the Headquarters on Wednesday, June 2, 2021, during the orientation for the yet-to-be inaugurated Pent Media Board.

The Board, which will be inaugurated in September this year, is chaired by Apostle Samuel Yaw Antwi, Cape Coast Area Head and Executive Council Member. Other members of the board are: Elder Dr. Adom Adu-Amoah, Pastor Kwasi Asante Annor (Secretary), Pastor Dr. Felix Dela Klutse, Pastor Paul Odai Laryea, and Elder Charles O. Frimpong.

The rest are: Elder Matthew Nkansah, Elder Justice Eric Kyei Baffour, Elder Lawyer Peter Adaliwe Kaba, Elder Isaac Boamah Darko, Elder Philip Osei Bonsu, Deaconess Efua Garbrah-Sarfo, and Ms Akua Boakyewa Yiadom.

The Pentecost Media Centre, an entity limited by guarantee, which the board will oversee, shall be the media subsidiary of the Church.

Apostle Nyamekye stated: “With the Vision 2023 objective of strengthening and realigning the Church’s institutions and structures, a key component has been to effectively synchronise the activities of all the media outlets (TV, Radio and Publications) to be on the cutting edge, professionally driven and adequately resourced to leverage on existing and emerging technologies so as to create, develop, package, upload and disseminate top-notched life-transforming content for the Church and public, on the various media platforms.

“For this objective to be effectively realised, Vision 2023 proposed the setting up of Pentecost Media Centre to hold the distinct media departments namely, Media Ministry Publications and PENT TV which used to be a company on its own.

“We believe that this reorganisation will consolidate the gains already made in the media landscape, strengthen The Church of Pentecost brand, and enhance our media presence.”

The mandate of the board includes guiding the unit heads to develop a strategic vision, mission, and goals for the  Pentecost Media Centre; ensure that the Media Centre has adequate human and material resources to carry out its mandate; develop policies for recruiting, supervising, evaluating, and compensating the human resources of the Media Centre, and see to the development and implementation of policies to protect the assets of the Media Centre, including storage and retrieval of messages and publications.

The Chairman of the board, Apostle Samuel Yaw Antwi, expressed the committee’s appreciation to the Chairman of the Church for the confidence reposed in them.

Present at the event were the General Secretary, Apostle Alexander Nana Yaw Kumi-Larbi; the Fiance and Administration Director (FAD), Apostle Lawrence Otu-Larbi, Ministry Directors, among others.

This is due to the adverse effects of Covid-19, coupled with the various travel restrictions put in place by many countries, which prevented delegates from travelling to Ghana for the 2020 Executive Council elections.

A statement from the church said that influenced the need for an online voting system that was secure, reliable and assured vote integrity and confidentiality.

“This system enabled The Church of Pentecost to organise its maiden electronic voting to elect members of its Executive Council,” the statement said.

The system

The online selection software the church deployed, Synergy eVote, was developed by AO Holdings Limited, which has its head office located at the Accra Digital Centre.

The Synergy eVote online voting system eliminates the hectic manual voting process.

Out of the 1,237 registered voters from 106 countries, a total of 1,194 votes were cast – 967 votes cast by councilors in Ghana and 227 by external councilors.

The entire election process lasted for an hour, with more than 1,000 votes being cast in less than 15 minutes.

Elected officials

The Hohoe Area Head, Apostle Yaw Adjei Kwarteng; the Koforidua Area Head, Apostle Samuel Osei Asante, and the Tamale Area Head, Apostle Isaac Kotei Djani, were all re-elected to serve a second term on the Executive Council.

Apostles Sylvester Arhin (Assin Foso Area Head), Dr Dela Quampah (Head of Department, School of Theology, Leadership and Missions) and Mike Etrue (Kaneshie Area Head) were also elected to replace members of the council who had completed their terms.

The India National Head, Apostle James Raj, was also elected onto the Council as the Member Representative for Nations Outside Africa.

Prophet James Osei Amaniampong, the Asokwa Area Head of THE CHURCH OF PENTECOST, has committed three months of his salary (April to June) to provide one hot meal for some vulnerable members and non-members within the Asokwa Area of the Church.

The General Secretary of the Assemblies of God Church, Ghana (AG-Ghana), Rev. Dr. Kwame Bansah, has said that until all people groups in the world come to the saving knowledge of the Lord of Christ Jesus, the Church cannot expect God to be satisfied with their soul-winning efforts.

“When Jesus talked of the ‘other sheep’ outside the pen, He was referring to the entire gentile world. As Christians, we are to be God’s witnesses even to the uttermost part of the world, so until we bring all people groups into the sheepfold to make it bigger with one Shepherd, God is not happy with what we have achieved,” he said.

Rev. Dr. Bansah made this assertion when he addressed participants of the ongoing Global Ministers’ Conference on Friday, January 25, 2019, at the Pentecost Convention Centre (PCC), Gomoa Fetteh.

In his presentation which was based on John 10:11-21, the AGGhana General Secretary said that the Church of God has become too selfish, discriminatory and selective. “Now, we enjoy coming together to fellowship but we are over concentrating on those who are already in the fold,” he said.

Rev. Dr. Bansah, who is the immediate-past General Secretary of the Ghana Evangelism Committee (GEC) therefore, admonished ministers to move out of their comfort zones and venture into unfamiliar territories in order to win more souls for the Lord.

He further stated that the Church ought to rise up and reach out to the world or risk becoming extinct in the future.

He observed with concern how Christianity is on the decline and gradually losing its influence and impact in the world.

“Historically, Islam has devastated and dealt a blow to Turkey, which profession and find a new one, and without service we become selfish,” he stated

He added that the value of the Church is found in the precious blood of Jesus and not in the estimation of gold and silver. “Ministry in the Church should not be about material possessions and in the number of degrees and money we have but in knowing Christ and proclaiming Him as Saviour to the world,” he observed.

Apostle Ernest Miezou, who heads the Church in Cote d’Ivoire (one of the two autonomous countries with the highest number of population apart from Ghana) with about 220 ministers, explained that in building the Church of God there is the need to build on the foundation and revelations from Christ the Rock and that will enable one to know the will of God for their life and ministry.

He, therefore, explained that the Church should not be an entertaining environment but should represent “the Hope of the Nations.”

”People who come to the church must find the basic values of truth and justice which is the hope of the nations,” he said.

Apostle Miezou also reminded the ministers that the Church is the rule of theocracy which has God as the head of the governance structure.

With God as the leader, it will be possible to move the church forward and possess the nations even in the midst of hostilities.was the nation of the early Churches in the Bible, as well as the Coptic Church of Egypt. At the moment, the Church in West Africa is arguably the strongest force in Christianity. Sadly, Ghana is the only Christian majority in West Africa. Instead of the Church rising to the occasion, we are arguing about doctrines, structures and organisations,” he lamented.

Concluding his presentation, Rev. Dr. Kwame Bansah said that “Christianity is under threat. The Church in Ghana, especially The Church of Pentecost, which is the leader of Christianity in the contemporary generation, must arise!”

He also charged believers to reach out to all people groups including Muslims by sharing with them the love of God, the power of God (Holy Spirit), and the truth of God’s Word (Jesus Christ).
